Our Story

It all started when…

I went on holiday to Greece and found 9 beautiful abandoned and kittens. so, the journey started with these tiny kittens and Skiathos cat welfare rescue. I met some AMAZING people who worked together to look after, treat and love over 150 cats!!! They catch, fundraise, rehabilitate then rehome so many cats every year. To help manage the number of cats they have vets fly in a few times a year to neuter the cats, at one time they neutered over 200 cats. The work they do is nothing short of amazing. I even got to bring a cat home with me, MR T.  This experience inspired me to help the animals in the UK and that is how 4 legged friends began.

4 Legged Friends is run by a social enterprise called YP Potential CIC.

The 4 Legged Friends project was set up by YP Potential Founder, Jim Clarke out of a passion for animals and how they help to lower peoples stress levels and promote positive mental health.  Jim is the proud Dad of 30 family pets including 3 dogs (Alice, Jake and one on the way) 8 adopted Guinea Pigs (Rupert, Ricky, Eamon, boss hog, Frodo, Sam, Milo and Little Kev), 6 adopted Rabbits (breeze, shadow, midnight, Bruno, Emily and Buck) and a cat that will be coming over to the UK soon who was a street cat in Greece.

4 legged friends then began working in care homes after Jim took Alice to see his aunty in a care home. Jim now works with 7 care homes, 3 schools and a children’s mental health ward. We are also looking to team up with social care in children’s homes and foster placements.
